I've just finished replacing the head gasket on my 106 diesel 1.5 and it's having difficulty starting. I've bled the fuel system a few times and it started up for a second or two with some easy start but then cuts out immediately after. Could it be that my timing is off on the injector pump?

These old diesels can be difficult to get all the air out of the system. The primer gets worn and is difficult to work properly. Have you also bled the injectors, by slackening the banjo’s and turning the engine over with the starter motor.
Then double check the timing belt. It’s very simple one locking pin in the cam and crank, TWO in the pump.
