1997 phase 1 306 airbag problem?????????

    Hi there can anyone help,
    Travelling up the motorway today i suddenley heard aclunk type bang from
    what appeared to be from the left hand side under the bonnetish area,then my
    airbag started to flash .then i could smell a eggie fart type smell.Is this
    job doable by me and what part is it likely to be any info will be a great
    help....thanks...martyn.
