206 cutting out

My daughter has a 206 on an X plate, she reports that the engine frequently
races and cuts out, when she attempts to restart it turns over quite a few
times before it picks up. She has had it in her local repair shop which is
Nationwide Autocentre of Chelmsford, they say they can not find anything
wrong with it???????? clearly something is wrong just that they don't know
what, any help please.

 

i wouldnt trust a nationwide autocentre to top up my washer bottle let alone
attempt diagnostics
go to a dealer

 

My 206gti developed the same problem and it turned out to be a fault with
the stepper motor.

bear in mind that quite a lot of setpper motor/idle circuit faults can be
caused by misfires/coil faults
