How do I remove the rear brake drum to replace the brake shoes? Do I need to
remove the soft alloy cap in the centre of the drum, and then.... ?

    Cheers :)

......remove the 32mm nut beneath the cap. If necessary deadjust the
handbrake and the drum SHOULD tap off.

Cheers all for the replies :) I went to the local library and looked at the
    Haynes.

It says the alloy cap is sacrificial and MUST be replaced, as is the
one-shot axle nut beneath, and rubber seal :(

Also, it says the nut must be torqued up to 148lb/ft !

So, it looks like NEXT Saturday, after I've sourced all the bits....

    What a STUPID arrangement!

I wouldn't worry about the seal which is on the stub behind the drum,
unless it is split. You can get it from Peugeot seperately, otherwise
it comes in the wheel bearing kit. And yes the nut has to be renewed
and peened to lock it on to the stub. It and the cap don't cost very
    much from Pug.
