I have a 1996 Peugeot 306 that just recently has decided not to lock anymore. The remore key battery is dead as far as I can tell but the central locking won’t work even when using the key in the lock, on either side of the car. It jumps back every time the car is locked. The boot still locks though, but just none of the doors do. The central locking has worked twice in the last two weeks but then refuses to work after that, when I think it has fixed itself. Although the car has a code immobiliser I still want to lock it. Does this sound like a wiring problem? I’ve had a look through the rather extensive list of central locking problems with the 306 and everyone seems to have slightly different experiences. Is this an easy thing to fix? Are there any guides for idiots like me who are relative novices? I’m loathe to pay the £150-200 the Peugeot garage want for it as I’m lending the car to a mate in two weeks and moving abroad. I’d rather do it myself and save a few quid. Also, is it possible to disconnect the central locking so doors have to be locked/unlocekd individually. As I say, I don’t care about having to go down this route as I’m not going to be driving the car for much longer. Any help would be massively appreciated as my wife is really starting to get on my nerves with her demands to hand over £200 to a faceless corporation who should have fitted better electrics in the first place, when I think it could be possible to fix it myself. Cheers.
