The clock and temperature display have disappeared.
I know it is still working, I can just make out some figures when the sun is
    shining directly on it.

Is there anything I can do / replace to get the display up again.

    Thanks for any help.

Sounds like the illumination bulb has blown or there is a poor contact to
    the bulb

    Thanks Fitzy,

Is the bulb easy to get to - I assume I can just pull the little clock unit
    out

    Hi Mahseve
Never done this type of clock before, but if you can just pull the unit out,
then I would imagine the bulb to be similar to the ones fitted in the dash,
1/4 of a turn and its out,
    good luck

    Sorry Mahseve
forgot to mention the bulb should be located in the back of the clock unit,
next to the electric connection plug,

You need to remove the lower trim around the clock and switches. it
just levers out (carefully) from the top. The switches come out with
it, and need to be disconnected. The clock is held in by two Torx 10
screws (you may be able to use a small electrical screwdriver (flat
blade). The bulb and holder are bayonneted in. The bulb is just pushed
in to the holder and is the small capless type.

The bulbs are 1.2W wedges, which I had a bit of trouble finding.
The only place that I could get them was RS, 'http://rswww.com/'
    Part No 283-8346

Did you save anything over going to your Pug dealer where they are
    around 60p each?

They are 3 pounds for a pack of 10 at RS. I had a trade
counter nearby so I didn't have to fork out for postage.
So I suppose it depends whether you think it's worth
the extra cost to have some spares.

I didn't even bother trying my local dealer, last time I
went there they wanted to charge me 40 quid just to change
one of the high-level brake light bulbs, and 30 quid to
change one of the numberplate bulbs.

    Totally agree with you Mark,
my philosophy is to avoid the dealer at any cost,
there are lots of other ways to get information, parts and help,
    My last encounter was,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
I own a classic Rover Mini,
it's fitted with a Rover alarm system, the remote fob has a battery that
cost £8-00 from the dealer, the same battery can be found in Maplins for
    £1-49,
    I have a 405 estate diesel,
I have just fitted a new radiator and air con condenser,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
the dealer quoted £210-00 for the radiator, and £280-00 for the condenser,
I bought the two items from a local radiator specialist for a total of
    £150-00,
The build quality and the guarantee are exactly the same,
    so Avoid the dealer,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I really don't understand how these garages stay in business, charging
that amount. If someone bought a bulb from us and asked if someone
would fit it, we would do it free of charge (especially if it was a
nice female!!). Even on a service we would only charge the minimum
time of .10 which would work out to be under a tenner with VAT and the
    price of the bulb.
