307 electrics

I recall some postings a while ago about sudden and intermittent electrical
    failure on 307's.

My July 02 307 2.0 16v SW suffered this last Friday on a very, very
waterlogged motorway. All electrics failed but the engine remained
unaffected, this lasted only a second or so before normal service was
    resumed.

When I stopped for a toilet break and tried to restart the car after a five
minute break it just churned over for several minutes before spluttering
into life. Since then I have had no problems at all. Are these two events
connected? Would water ingress cause both these faults? Would a good dosing
with WD40 be likely to help?

    Thanks.

I had a similar problem with my 306 for ages like this. I used to
clean up the spark plugs and clean the plug leads. I got really
pissed off one day and sprayed loads of WD40 over the plug leads
(after taking them off). No problems since. Turned out after looking
carefully before going mad with the WD40 that the was a film over the
metal bit which goes on the coil. I would suggest giving it a dose of
WD40 and seeing if it makes any difference. As I said before, I
(touch wood) have not had any further probs, but then again its not
been too damp in england for a while.
