307 external temperature sensor

Discussion in 'Peugeot 307' started by Des O'Donoghue, Aug 28, 2003.

  1. My temperature sensor started playing up yesterday. I left work and got into
the car and got an "ice alert". It was around 4.30 on a lovely warm sunny
evening. The most the temperature rose was to 4 degrees.

Today at midday I was in the car for a while and the temperature fluctuated
from -1 to +5 . This evening it seemed to be back to normal.

Has this happened to anyone else ? Is it symptomatic of some other problem ?

    Hi Des,

This is one problem i haven't had with my 307....i've had most others with
my pile of French junk but not this..
I do remember sometime ago while in one of my fed up with my 307 moods ! i
test drove a new mini. The car i drove was a brand new Cooper, it was the
second time i had to call to test drive as it had a problem on the
first....the problem was a faulty outside temp reading. It didn't sound
much to me but it affected the engine management computer as it thought that
the temp was very cold it was keeping the choke on....so it may be worth
getting it checked out with the dealer...thats if you have nerves of steel.
Better still SELL IT and get a good car ..

    Good luck

But on Peugeots the outside temperature sensor only controls the
temperature display. It has no bearing on the engine management.
