406 1.9 TD

    I have noticed that my 1998 406 1.9 TD has suddenly just started to idle at
    just over the 1000rpm and the exhaust outlet is looking VERY black and
    sooty. Anyone have any ideas?

    Car starts fine and drives fine otherwise.
