    Hi

I've got a problem with my 6 disc CD player - started off as intermittent
    but now totally packed up.

The problem is that when I try to play a CD (eg by pressing the relevant
button to 'rotate' between TAPE->RADIO->CD) it no longer 'realises' that
there is a CD installed (ie I only get TAPE->RADIO->TAPE->RADIO however
    hard I try)

Any ideas - could it be a simple loose wire eg in the power connection to
the CD unit in the boot?

    thanks in anticipation

  2. I've suffered the same problem from time to time. I had to put it down to
condensation forming on the discs. I assumed it must become damn cold in the
    boot, especially over night.

I also suffered the same problem due to the changer getting wet. A little
silcone sealant around the nearside rear light cluster should solve it, but
remove the changer and bring it indoors to dry out properly first.

hi try running a disk cleaner in it you may have dust on the lazer what in
turn holds condensation on the lazer get the picture that will bounce
lazer back to unit and make unit think you dont have disc in the
unit..best way tho is to clean lazer by hand.. if your that way
minded...but you have to be veryyyyyyyy carfull as you can easy damage
lazer surface..ps may have to run cleaner lots of times so stick it in
slot 1 and keep pressing 1 button

  5. I've had the same problem with the factory fitted in-dash CD changer on my
307 so it's most likely not the cold that's causing the problem. It seems to
happen to mine after maybe 40 mins of playing fine. I'll try and change to
load a different CD and the reader will not recognise the loaded CD. I would
then try and load the previous CD that was working but that won't be
recognised as being present either. Doesn't really make sense.

As someone else suggested get the laser cleaned either by cleaner disc
(available for a few pounds) or by hand (better results but a little more
tricky and you risk damaging the laser). I haven't tried this yet but will
do and I'll let you know if it works.
