Ok when you go over the mileage when the car thinks it ought to be
    serviced(a bit)
It appears to put up a spanner all the time in the odometer and starts
clocking up the miles since it thought it should have had a new filter.
BUT Is there any other warning indication?
Or put it another way, what does it do if you ignore it for a bit?

Sorry if this post offends by attributing thought to a motor vehicle, but
they're getting too dammed clever for their own good.. and it aint getting a
new filter till 60K even if it stamps its feet and throws a tantrum.

    Rick.

It won't do anything, but you can reset the service light indicator if you
want to get rid of the spanner. The procedure should be in your user
    manual somewhere.

Mmmmmmmm yep, I know how to reset the service indicator, I was just
expecting something like the little spanner might start flashing or
    something... seems pretty boring.
I can't really figure why it thinks it need a service 700 miles short of the
proper interval, I drive the dammed thing in grandad mode all the time.
Maybe I shouldn't have bought the missus those leather driving gloves for
    xmas.
