Advice On Buying A 406 DT 2088cc 1997 Please

I have seen a 406 EX DT 2088cc Estate 1997 for sale in my local paper, I'm hoping for some advise on what to look for in terms of faults or what to expect that could be costly repairs, the guy that is selling the car has informed me that there are no unusual noises or rattles from underneath or from the engine and no obvious smoke from the exhaust, the body is very clean with no apparent corrosion or damage, the mileage is 132,000 and at 16 year old it may or may not be genuine but that doesn't really concern me it's just that the MOT test is due in March and I don't want to end up spending a fortune putting the car right, the asking price is £795 ono which means I will most probably be able to buy it for £600 or £650, I intend to view the car this week so any input will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance for any advice given.
