    OK I'll bite. WTF is a b/pulley??
Is it the one in the middle of the a/pulley and the c/pulley?

  3. I'd love to know what a b/pulley is too!

  4. I think Chris means "bloody" pulley. It is the crankshaft pulley and after
a while the rubber bonding starts to separate. In answer to Chris's
question, mine went at around 115,000 miles so his has probably been done at
least once before (I seem to remember your 405 is notching up a quarter of a
    million).

    Look it up on line?

But I have always found these people more reliable, though a little further
away. I don't get the wrong part supplied so often there.

  7. Ah right, thanks for the feedback. Does my 2003 HDi have one?

  8. Just don't go to Peugeot. They charge £120 for the 406 one and yours is
    probably the same.

Heard today that Daewoo have a similar set up and theirs are £300.

You will get it much cheaper from Euro Parts, GSF or one of those companies.

  9. Probably, I believe they are standard on the HDi engines. If it goes, you
start to get a rattle from the off side front. I thought my exhaust was
working loose at first. My repairer said that when he revved the engine
and shone a torch down, he could see tiny slivers of metal flying off.

Your 2003 HDI will have the earlier type, as fitted to the old XUDs. The
type which falls apart was only fitted to the earlier HDIs AFAIK. My wife's
2000 306 HDI 90 has this type, and it has already failed at 85k. My 2002 307
HDI 110 has the older type, and that is fine at 100k.

They do make a lot of noise when they go. Ours had a thin steel band hanging
    out of it.

  11. Presumably then, Chris's, being a 405, has the earlier type as well?
