have a banging noise under the car predominantly when the car is loaded. i
thought at first it was the exhaust as it sounded somewhat metalic but
after checking it, all seems to be intact and not loose1 i think its
coming from the back but have had a very thorugh check over the car
tightening up every nut and bolt i can find, i go ages without the noise
and then it comes back. i havent taken the spare wheel cradel out to see
if its that but there is nothing obvious about this one.
i dont know whether this is a suspension problem or not but its driving me
    crazy,
    any suggestions anyone

It's likely to be the suspension - either..

One or more of the four suspension mounting bushes. If the rubber fails you
get metal to metal contact. If you need to replace one you should replace
    the set of four.

Failing suspension arm bearings. Jack up the rear of the car and support on
axle stands. Check for play by vigorously exerting sideways force on each
wheel. If this is the problem then take a look at
    http://www.sspengineering.co.uk/, whom I can recommend.

I'd be 90% certain that it's the rear suspension mounts, the forward pair by
the cross tube. Easy to change, buy from a motor factor.
