    Hi everyone!

I'm having a bit of trouble. Ive just bought a Clarion Pu-2294 cd player,
it came with a code that works. However, each time I start the car up the
cd player doesn't work, yet when the engine isn't on it will work. Also it
asks for the code everytime I turn the ignition on.
    Can anybody help?? :(

    Cheers

did you have a tape unit fitted before if so you will need to swop around
the ignition and constant feed wires as the are different thus resetting
the unit every time you switch off

Yes, it was an old clarion tape radio. Thanks for the reply. How would I go
    about swopping the two wires?

    Cheers

    Hi,
Search for ISO radio wiring with Google, or trust me : from memory the +P
wire (should be yellow or orange) must be at the right of the +APC (red
wire) when looking at the back of the connector.

    What car is it ? I'm assuming a 406 ?

    http://www.nexxia.co.uk/head_unit_fitting_kits/peugeot.htm will sell you a
harness adaptor lead for £9.99, free postage, that does the same job with no
    wire chopping.

    Thanks everyone!

I've sorted out the code problem.

However, the cd still won't work when the engine is running! The radio
does, I don't understand??? Can anybody help?

    Cheers

    Hi,
Dirty or unreadable CD ? I don't know this model, I have never tried it,
have you performed a test with a pressed CD (i.e not a homeburnt CD) ?

Next idea (not sure it will sound good to you), dirty CD lens*. I saved a
PC's CD burner for that reason.
To clean a CD lens, open the case (could be the step 0) then with a earstick
(sorry don't know the term, you certainly have this kind of sticks with
cotton at both ends to clean you ears) disposed in some alcohol (the
"medical" alcohol, say 70% or 90%, I don't know what is available in UK),
clean the lens. Let it dry (some seconds are enough) refit, replug, test.
If it works, take your car, drive around your block and shout "GT is great"
    :)

    * Errrr, perhaps I should add it, it seems the dirty lens problem is more
likely to happen if the previous owner was a smoker.

    Regards,
