I have a Peugeot 407hdi 2005.in uk .because gears were notchy I assumed box oil level was low. But there maybe engine oil leaks too
Anyway, I took the small plastic cap off top of gearbox and probably wrongly i filled right up to top of that hole,I couldn't see how to check level
After a while oil was dripping out of bottom of car and there was pool of fresh oil on top of gearbox. I guess box was rejecting overfilled gearbox oil ?
I also read that box is a sealed unit and never needs topping up as it lasts a lifetime, surely not ??
All threads say empty oil then refill 2.6L.that can't be only way to ensure box oil level is correct?
