    HI, I'm after advise please.
I have an 806 HDi that the timing belt has just snapped on. I was traveling in fifth at about 55mph (approx. 1900rpm) when it happened. There was no loud bang or rattles etc, just a total loss of power/drive and a full array of ignition lights. Looking under the bonnet, there is no sign of damage(Head lift, holes etc)
I've had a similar thing happen on other engines and been lucky but don't know enough about these engines to be sure.
What I don't want to do is spend a lot of money stripping the engine to find its toast!
The car has done 242,000 miles and been serviced/maintained meticulously.
Does anyone have any knowledge on these engines and how robust they are?
Am I looking at a total loss?
What's the probability of being lucky?

Any responses would be gratefully received
    Thanks,
    Steve

My belt snapped twice on my 1.9td 806 and I just put another belt on and it was fine.
