I dont know if this can be done but I'm still gonna ask..

I have an extra creative inspire 5.1 digital 5700 system which I dont use.. I was thinking about using it's subwoofer in my peugeot 307. However, I dont know how to install it. I can connect the system directly to my dvd player/TV so I guess I don't need an amplifier, am I right?

Connection to subwoofer is like regular subwoofers in big sound systems(red and black copper wires goes directly into subwoofer) ..

I will be glad if someone can help me..

Your 307 is multiplexed. I held off replying as I don't know much, but I
think that fitting a subwoofer could be a bit of an arse as it would need to
be 'programmed' in by a Peugeot garage. I also don't know what connections
you would need for this as multiplexing uses completely different wiring.

    Anyone care to confirm/debunk?

I see, am I going to have the similar problem if I install a regular active subwoofer or just a subwoofer+amp?

Are you discussing a subwoofer of a pc system in a 307?
How are you going to connect the power then ?

I am old fashioned and i want to place a subwoofer with an active amplifier. I need to use cables from the front to the back of the car with a postive cable. Have you had experience in getting in from the front to the interior of the car?

i have just sold the sound system in my car that I made out of a
household stereo system. i had a set of altec lansing ada885 - it was
amazing. i stripped it down to the components, removed it all from the
box, and put it into a new custom box, images can be seen here,

http://xgnet.nettendo.com/benlessani/306/4.jpg - the unit in my boot
    http://xgnet.nettendo.com/benlessani/306/6.jpg - the lcd control
    screen

i wired it into the pre-out on my stereo, but im guessing you dont
have one on a manufacturers vehicle. but you can use a series resistor
from the high level rear speaker output (the parcel shelf speakers
etc. just run another set of wires from either side in parallel to the
speaker, then add a resistorin series to bring the input impedance
down, so that it doesnt fry the cicuitry in the computer speakers.

then to power the speakers, check the total RMS value for it - should
be something like 80W for the inspire system, and use a 12v invertor
of appropriate value. my speakers were 120w rms, so i used a 150w
    invertor (£20 from maplin).

btw, an invertor converts the DC signal to AC, then uses a transformer
to get the 12V to 230V. you end up with a standard home plug socket on
the invertor that you plug your device into.

    hope that helps
