Multi Function Display not lighting up

    I have a peugeot 206 GLX (2001). The multi-function display is not lighting up. I can see that it works when the sun shines on it or if I shine a torch on it. I replaced all of the bulbs thinking that was the issue, but it still doesn't work.
    Then I was thinking that it might be a fuse, but the same fuse is also used for other things which are working.
    Would anyone out there have any ideas what I should try next. The car is old, so I don't want to spend any money on replacing the display.
