P0343 Cam sensor error.

    Got error P0343 saying camshaft position sensor faulty. Replaced with new one (5 minute job) but still no start. Power and earth connection OK. Engine will turn but it seems slow (battery is only 4 months old and voltage good, 12.9V). Further investigation of the error message says 1 potential fault is "slow engine turn over " . I figure starter motor may need replacing/refurbishment. Car has ~ 90k. Would welcome any advice before I remove starter motor. Not sure how I can test motor with my general equipment.
