Radio appears to be ok but no sound. I've taken the radio out of the dash
but no visible damage to cables. .
Could be the speaker wiring loom.

Is this difficult to locate and fix for the interface to the various
speakers. All the speakers are u/s.
    Any comments/suggestions gratefully received

No sound at all? If the display lights up and looks ok then the power
is alright, and its unlikely all 4 speaker cables would go out but not
the rest. I'd suspect the radio has died, as it'll be getting on a bit
if its still the original...Have you tried another radio? Does the tape
    player give any sound?

If you still suspect the speakers then theres a pinout for the
    connector here that should help:

Can you test the radio in another car or another radio in your car?
Best place to get it fixed id www.fixmyradio.co.uk
You remove and pack the radio, they collect via courier, repair and
return. Cost £60 last time I used them.
Is this the system with the seprate JBL amplifier in the boot? Has that
    failed?

Very useful diagram, but for some reason the left side of the left
scheme doesn't show on my browser. Can you repeat? Thanks

It's just the way it's been scanned (its not my page), that should have
all the info you need though. Were you wanting more specific details on
    something?

Many thanks for the reply. The radio lights up and scans various stations
both from the radio itself and the remote stalk.

I have taken the radio out and had a quick look at the connectors. (I have
not had the chance to put it back as it was a real b**** to take out -very
difficult to extract the connectors from the radio as this is probably the
first time they have been moved.

I will try a cassette in it - do not have another radio

No sign of any wiring problems but I'll do a continuity test on speaker
cables. However the radio has 3 connectors and I have still to investigate if
it is the same as your diagram. It's an estate but no reason why speaker and
other connectors should be different ? .

By the way, why do Peugeot have the radio aerial cable so short. Its a real
    pain to put back

Will post any results in the next day or so

    Thanks for the reply
Could try and source another radio from a scrappie - if they have the code.
I have access to another Peugeot 405 but it is a first build with probably
    different connectors and wiring.

The system is very basic - cassette and radio only. Never considered an
    upgrade.

If it's the basic radio, then spending £60 on fixing it does not sound
like a good idea. £100 gets quite a good radio these days.
How much do scrapys charge for such radios these days? £5, £10 ???
