I have just had a timing belt and water pump replaced on my 1998 Peugeot, I
did ask them to replace the alternator drive belt too but notice that this
has not been done, does this matter? The charge was £250, is this a fair
    price?

sounds like a fair price, shouldnt worry about the alternator belt, even if
it breaks it wont do any damage, you will just lose your power steering and
battery charging until you get a new one.

Ha ha. Sez you. :-( My 205 D turbo snapped it's alternator belt at
70mph and as well as making a right mess of the timing belt cover, a
bit of it got between the timing belt and the crankshaft pulley and I
ended up with the timing a notch or two out. Fortunately no lasting
    damage was done.

    Hi,
    I should laugh, I guess.
For the price of an alternator belt... £250 or £260 ain't that a bit
    difference, IMO.
I use to order the change of my alternator belt with the timing belt, just
to be sure I won't have a fail on the road.

usually finds its way inside the timing cover when it snaps
suggest you get them to change it
this job of course being labour free as you had already asked for it to be
changed and they didnt even though they had to remove it to replace the
    other belt
