we're looking to buy either a Peugeot 206 or Citroen C3

up to 2y/o, 5 door with fairly good spec, air con, electric windows etc.
    and 1.4 petrol or diesel

your thoughts (other than "it's French therefore it's shite") ?

or would you recommend another car in this class ?

    thanks

Not the wrong group really. Hard to really recommend either, since the 206
is now rather long in the tooth and not very reliable or spacious compared
to decent modern rivals like Skoda Fabia, Seat Ibiza etc. The C3 gets a bad
press too, though there's nothing really wrong with it and it's very cheap.
Usual advice: read What Car?, look at JD Power, and of course, test drive
them all. Keep an open mind.

    Hi,
Well, the 206 will be replaced by the 207 (Ok, nothing amazing) next year.
Reliability seems pretty good, even full-muxed cars (2002-). The only gizmos
my parents have with their '02 HDi90 is the servicing countdown which is
    fooling.

    Regards,
