Peugeot partner 2002 high revs

    Evening everyone
    Hoping that someone may have a bit of input on the following..
    My partner van (2002) decided to rev super high then cut out instantly, this happened on two consecutive trips, and with being busy I’ve neglected to look at her. Anyhow, I can see that there seems to be some air in the fuel pipe before the fuel filter, and have worked out that if I prime it after she has cut out, she will start and drive for another mile or two and then the same will happen. My question being, would air in the fuel (diesel) line make her rev uncontrollably? Or am I looking at a totally different problem. No codes show up , and fuel filter has been changed, my next port of call will be to change the filter housing and work back from there, hopefully it isn’t the fuel pump
