my 406 seems to have a major preference for V power diesel
Does Shell sell it in france?

within two weeks i'm doing an overnight trip to Tignes( yes skiing,
decadence etc :), i would be nice to have the extra v power bite
    doing over 200Km/h

    Hi Marc,
That's not amazing, my good old 205 also seems to prefer good brand diesel.
No clue. They possibly have a specific name for their fuel, certainly not V
    power.
There are good other types of Diesel fuel here, for example Elf Diesel
Evolution (which my car seems to prefer). Oh, keep in mind that both petrol
& fuel are slightly overpriced here, so don't forget to refuel before
entering France, for example in Germany or Luxemburg (far better savings if
    you go to Lux).
With all the "Sarko boxes" (from the name of the minister which decided to
install automatic speedtraps - of course where it's bargain and not where
it's dangerous but not crowded), I don't think you'll do it for a long time.
And radar detectors are forbidden since the first day they exist (I've heard
they were forbidden in Netherlands yet, true ?).
Of course you can drive while drunk, there is a low low risk to be
controlled (not more than before, indeed). That's the perfect example of
politics cowardness : pissing off GT which used to drive at 110KPH while a
grandma can still be killed for 50EUR and SOB burn your car for fun. Of
course it's easier. Of course it costs less.

Oh, Tignes, not that a bad idea, but I guess I'd rather go to Insbrück -
Austrian Alps are far better, that's where I use to park my Porsche between
    two Mercs :)

    Hi once again,

I've been thinking there were some discount priced fuel stations yet : Esso
Express or Elf City. Once upon a time, on a trip around Paris, I saw such a
station (an Elf City) which was coming with prices a bit under supermarkets'
fuel. Of course these are automatic stations, don't forget to bring your
Visa or Eurocard with you :)
Of course, don't expect to find one in the deepest parts of France !

    Regards
    G.T

i'm planning to refuel @ the BP station capellen in luxembourg,
    definitely 25 cents cheaper....
and as for the rest elf evo will be on the program...
Yup having one in your care fines you with €250,- and confiscation of
    the unit.
for what i've seen on the main routes there are only two Sarcophagus (
the name i heard from my french neighbour :) on my route, i.e. on the
a 31 near Metz. Last time i checked there where only 60 some of the
cupboards along the autoroutes, compare that to tiny little holland
with over a thousand of these and i'll tell you france is heaven.
then again the fines for speeding are major in france i understand.
i only once drove pissed as hell, in france, wrecking my 205, having
police involved and they did not even asked if i had drunk... while
the whole damn barrel was down the collar.

i've have had a never drink and drive experience since, and i'm not
    planning on one...
funny you say that, i plainly hate austria for the fact that there are
far to many dutchies there spoiling my fun....
and, the french alpes are steeper, and as for food, well i do not
share the austrians taste for sweet...

if you want to park your car between any thing priced over 100.000 you
might find a spot in Megève :) that where i parked my €500 305
between the X5 and ML 220 and got all the attention these people only
    get with a €200.000 car :))))

    Hi,
True ! Enjoy it and buy some cheap fags and booze too :)
    Nice choice.
Eh eh... In France, if the radar detector is fixed into the car (for
    example,
bolted on the dashboard), they can proceed the confiscation of the car as
    well.
That's a commonly used term, too.
A31 around Thionville (about 20 or 30 miles away from Metz), IIRC what my
brother said (he often drives in that area). Guys slow slow down to 110 or
130 on all lanes, pass the Sarkobox and
then put the pedal off the floor up to 160KPH, the speed they use to drive
    :)
Well, one thousand installed boxes are planned in 2006, IIRC. Oh, some of
them are breaked off - I've heard that one, on Christmas's night, has been
opened and the guy stole the digital camera which is inside :) Or sometimes
    "naturally"
breaked on accidents (the same way you can smash off the safety rail).
Well, entrance price 90 or 135EUR, plus licence points, up to jail (yeah
man, you drive too fast on a desert road you're a criminal now - burn the
car instead it's just 24h max time in the police station).
Not surprised, sometimes they're just too stupid.
I never drive while drunk - which made me test drive all my friends' cars
    :)
And I guess that's a honnor matter : I prefer losing my license on speeding
    than in being drunk.
C'mon you can find dutchies almost everywhere :)
Some nice Würtzen would be pretty nice. Never been to Austria indeed, but I
thought they had tastes pretty close to Germans. OK, I've been only once in
Germany, and I know their McDonalds are pretty the same than the ones we
    have here :)
    True, too.
Kind of "what the hell this car is ?" I guess. Another spot to park your car
between two EUR500k cars is Monte-Carlo casino's car park. Damn, I've been
once to MC when I was a child, my dad parked the 405 ('88 SRi, but still a
    405) between a Ferrari and a Porsche. Never seen so many Ferraris in one day
    :)

hey, i'm going skiing, not boozing :) NOT!
    damn A holes,
there trying the dutch legislation for the european court right now on
the freedom of information act, once its rejected all you have to do
is appeal for the verdict since France ratified the Maastricht treaty
    as well
indeed thionville one just before and one after the catherine, i last
summer the one before the cathedral comming from the south surprised
me, i never got the ticket though and i'm sure it flashed.
on the other hand the gendarmes in st léger s beuvray (where my mom
lives) fined me for speeding while my mom usually does..... and did
it in this case, they apprehended me when i got out of the
    boulangerie...
:) they have several clubs over here who try to make the live of the
gastocamera's and the policeman quite "unpleasant"

this is what happens when acetone and peroxide mix together...

    http://www.onzinboetes.nl/fotoreponw.php?welke=554

last year they caught a BOA sleeping ( the term for the ones standing
    with speedcamaras down the road)
they turned the camera towards the guy and then made some major ( and
    i mean major) speed tickets
i wonder what the look on the face of the BOA HQ was when they saw
their colleague sleeping at the wheel doing over 250 :)
what do you mean by burn the car?
not half as i was though!
how many per hour do you have to be over the limit to get it
confiscated? over here it is 50km/h to fast and you lose it
we don't have point on our license though
:-( i like to be one of a kind, there is just 16milion of that and in
general i do find dutch people rather annoying when abroad. Hence they
think their alone in the world as well :)
oh yes the Wienerwürsten are great it is just the pastry in austria
that you smell just about everywhere that makes me noxious.

    Hi,
Ok, on your way back to home, then :)
Perhaps they just gave up because of the foreign plates (your car is
registered in netherlands, I suppose ?). I once knew a (french) guy which
used to drive cars bought in Lux for example, and not paying for car parks,
damn he claimed he never received any tickets !
    I could imagine it's just a hard luck !
I've heard a similar story last night, pretty common with countryside
brigades. Realize their most exciting job usually consists in a lost wallet
    :)
    I should have a look soon !
Damn this *must* be fun :)
Use a lighter and make it burn, or destroy by fire. Oh, of course, with a
    stolen car !
Here it used to be 50, but it has been lowered to 40KPH over speed limit
(which are damn too low nowadays, some 2*2 roads are better than many
motorways (if you ever drove on the A86, going to Paris over Fleury en
Bière, you know what I mean - compare with the N60 going to Orléans), how
    could you run @ 110KPH ? Just 'cause you don't pay the tax ? F*ck !
Lucky you ! Here it has been imposed (everything is imposed, and still it's
considered as a democraty) in 1992. I'll make it simple and just explain the
new rules : when you just had your driving license (with the red A on the
back of your car), you've got 6 points for the first 2 years. With the
"prices" for infactions, you can quite easily run out of points. Then you
lose your driving licence for some time (2 years I guess) and have to pass
    it again.
After these 2 f#cking A years, you've got your 12 points. Then it's the same
price for speeding, or whatever you do, but you can do it twice :)
No offence here, I don't know how vacations are organized in NL, but you can
see loads of them all around France most months of year, with caravans and
all. Then a deep frenchy can easily think "damn', they're 50 millions on
such a so little country" !
