radio controls on steering column don't work

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by David Shepherd, Aug 5, 2003.

  1. Hi,
I have a 306 and it has a stalk on the steering column that can supposedly
be used to control the radio volume and stations, but it doesn't do anything
on my car. I was wondering if anyone knows if there is any reason for this,
i.e. it doesn't work with one of the standard radios that come with the car,
or if it's not normally connected, etc.

Looking at the rear or my radio (which is the clarion 8085 which comes with
it) there doesn't appear to be anywhere for it to be connected.

    Does anyone have any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Dave.

If you have the original radio that came with the car then it should have a
socket on the back in which the lead from the column control will plug in,
all 306s are like this. Someone has obviously replaced the radio that came
    with the car.

I pulled mine off when i put my kenwood in. I dont miss it that much
cos it used to take years off my life when my right knee caught it.
Im quite tall and that stalk thing is scary! I left the stalk on
though cos it makes for a cool play thing when at the traffic lights.
