recognising CD changer

  1. sorry if this has already been done but I need some info.
1999 406 GLX. Clarion single CD head unit.
I have bought Clarion CD changer from e-bay. Wiring already in place.
The cd changer powered up and ejects CD magazine etc.
    Head unit won't recognise it.
Has anyone has a dealer reprogramme the management system and was this
successful? I went to a main dealer today and they were amazing. They gave
the impression they were guessing but 'thought' they may need to have the
car in and 'get the laptop on it'.
I will have to find another dealer but before I do would like anyone else's
    experience of this.
    Thanks
    Steve.

  2. Hi, the unit will not work unless your CPU (the engines 'brain') recognises
it. You will therefore need to take the car to a dealer who should(!) be
able to re-program your CPU to accept the new unit. I would guess it would
cost around £40.00 or so. If you are lucky, you may find an independant
dealer who will do it for you cheaper, but they would probably have to be
Peugeot specialists to make it worth their while to stock the necessary
    equipment.
