rubber

    So why is it they make these pulleys with rubber in the middle of
    them.i got told by a pug garage that mine was not the half rubber
    pulley.it was only that some one said he will have a look for me that
    he found it as i did not have time to look my self, i was to busy doing
    wheel bearings on a old escort, much better to work on.

    Assuming you are talking about the crankshaft pulley which drives the aux
    belt, the rubber is to help damp out vibration. Those older type last for
    ever, not like the newer crap they fitted to the earlier HDi engines.
