starting problems 406

Discussion in 'Peugeot 406' started by jeroen den blijker, Jun 29, 2004.

  1. Hi,
our Peugeot 406 Familia, 1.8 inj, aged six years old, shows some problems
with starting the engine. Sometimes starting is as it is supposed to be,
sometimes it is realy difficult: only after repeated efforts during ten
minutes the engine starts. There seems to be no relation to
weatherconditions and the starting problems are also difficult to predcit.
Our Peugeot-dealer already replaced the relais, but the problem still
exists. The computer and electricitycircuits are also checked as well as the
keychip. With no result: our dealer has not been able to find any problem...
He says that we have to live with it: it is a typical problem of a modern
car, which nowdays are stuffed wit 'all that computerstuff and electricity",
    he says.
We dont like such answers: our problem isn't solved. Does anybody has any
    idea, please, let us know....

Thanks very much, Jeroen den Blijker, Amersfoort, The Netherlands

Draait de startmotor wel of heel zwaar of helemaal niet? Een startmotor wil
ook wel 's zulke problemen geven.

    Groet, Jon.

Maybe try a new aerial for the transponder -- around the ignition
    lock.

  4. Question

What is the state of the battery.

Is it up to 12V or showing rather low.

The fuel pump may be slow to start

mine occasionally does the same:.(2.0lt Turbo exec)

    remove the key wait.

turn on ignition wait 15 -20 seconds then attempt to start.
