    Hi,

I'm getting my engine out of my 1.9GTI 205.
I'm about to hang it on the winch, but I still wonder what the best way
is, to put it on the engine stand. is the best way on the side of the
    gearbox?

All info and experiences are helpfull,

    Hello,
Er, you mean you'd like to put it on the gearbox ?
I guess I'd put it gently on the engine's carter instead.

Actually I recently bought an engine stand, and I just wanted to put the
    engine on this
so I could work on it (but it is the first time I do this). The engine is
    now out of the
car, but not on the stand yet. I thought of removing the gearbox and putting
    it on that
side on the engine stand... or is there a better way?

yes, hold it on the gearbox side of the block. Then you can get at the side
bolts which hold the centre main bearing cap in.

unsociable and extremely unappealing naked. I'm quite grateful they do though.
