What is the cause in the rise in temperature and not Over heating

    Hi,
    I have a Peugeot 406 1999 model,
    The car traveled 800km, the temperature rose the red light with or without AC and gets back to normal temperature of 90.
    The water in the car remain normal and the fans working well.
    what could be the cause?

    Does it show "stop" with a message of engine temperature too high? And the temperature guage goin down and picking up again. To normal?
