Can anyone give any info on the vacuum pump on the 1.9 diesel engine please?
The diaphram on mine fails at regular intervals.

    Hello,
What type ? Belt-driven (first type, -90) or camshaft "directly driven"
    (post-90 or post-90 with PAS) ?

I think I've gone through three replacement diaphrams in as many years. At
35 quid a time it is not funny.

    so you did!

now was it a belt driven, or is it the one directly driven from the
    cam.

did you set the oil level correctly?

are the bearings OK, can you feel any sharp edges when replacing the
diafragm, did you use normal engine oil or any other type. ( it should
    be multigrade sae 15w40)

do you have to top up brake oil regulairy? is there any leak in the
vacuum system where dirt cane come in the system.

can the pump lose its presuse ( it is suposed to go to the inlet
    manyfold )
